The North Atlantic Right Whale is a very interesting looking whale, with it's mouth curving up in a fashion making it seem as if it's eyes are under it's mouth. The North Atlantic Right Whale is one of three species of right whales. The Right Whale is a large type of Baleen whale of the genus [living fossil organisms] Eubalaena. This particular Right Whale is the most endangered species of whale and is one of the most endangered species on the planet.
The Right Whale was given it's name during the whale hunting age, because it was "The right whale to hunt," because it's one of the most docile whale species, swims near beaches, and after it is killed it floats the surface of the ocean. Due to all of the hunting, the Atlantic Right Whales are extremely endangered. With under 350 still in existence, their odds aren't looking to great. Most scientists believe that unless the threats of fishing gear entanglements and ship strikes are diminished or subsided the North Atlantic Right Whale will be extinct in 200 years or less. This is devastating for such an innocent creature to be so endangered. You can easily help the right whales by raising awareness, starting petitions, and many other things. Please join the fight for the North Atlantic Right Whale.
